My Dream Crate

Loot Crate reached out to me and asked me to participate in the Dream Crate Project and come up with my perfect Crate. If you never heard of Loot Crate, it’s a monthly subscription service. You can get a box (aka Crate) filled with nerdy merchandise, like collectibles or clothing items. Anyone can be part of this project by just writing a blog post about everything you’d want to receive in your ideal crate. There are no rules, you can include anything, even if it’s not actually possible. A thing to keep in mind is the theme though, every Loot Crate is themed (e.g. Distopia, Versus, Speed), so make sure you include one as well. Loot Crate will highlight some ideas on social media. There’s also the possibility, that your Dream Crate might become real!

I love fandom related clothing and accessories, so that’s exactly what my perfect Crate would contain. What I appreciate most about Loot Crate are the original designs. So I wanted to include some original ideas, too. I included some sketches, keep in mind that I’m not an artist though.

A few ideas for items popped into my head immediately, but I couldn’t come up with a theme, that ties everything together. However I noticed that everything is pretty colorful, so I decided to go with the theme “Color”.

My First Lootcrate + Shipping Experience

I ordered my first Loot Crate! I choose the “Loot For Her” (Loot Wear option, formerly lvl up). Which basically means you get cool wearable fandom related items, which I love. Let me know if you wanna see a fandom/merch lookbook, because I have quite a collection.

Anyway, the first time I ever heard of Loot Crate was when I watched Bunny’s (Gav3yardgirl) unboxing video and I immediately knew I wanted to get one, too. Unfortunately I was too late to get the June’s Loot Crate (Theme: Distopian, featured fandoms: Ghostbusters, Firefly, AOT) and the one that followed didn’t really spark my interest (Theme: Futuristic). August’s theme was Anti Hero and the featured fandom was Harley Quinn so I decided to get it. I know I’m quite late with this post, but I didn’t receive my Loot Crate until the 15th of September.

In this blog post I want to talk about my first impression of Loot Crate and my experience with the shipping process to Germany. If you don’t care about the shipping just scroll to down to the pictures.

Father’s Day

In Germany we always celebrate Father’s Day on Ascension Day, which is a federal holiday. Traditionally groups of men go on a hiking trip and consume an awful lot of beer. When it comes to teenagers and young adult though, girl and boys alike use this holiday to get drunk as hell. Anyway I’m not a big drinker, but I still love spending time with my friends and just eat and talk a lot (while they also drink a lot). Here are some pictures of this day.

All pictures were taken by my best friend, go visit her blog.

If you’re not from Germany, tell me if you do anything special on Ascension Day and how you celebrate Father’s Day.

S.H.I.E.L.D. or Hydra?

Which team would you be on, Hydra or S.H.I.E.L.D.? Which ever you prefer this will get you your very own badge!

Create your Hydra badge here!
Create your S.H.I.E.L.D. badge here!

I definitely consider myself a S.H.I.E.L.D. girl. How awesome would it be to be on Coulson’s team? Or to be part of the Secret Warriors, omg that would be incredible! Anyway I wanted to show you what both badges look like, even though I would never consider myself Hydra. (The Hydra badge looks cooler, though)

This is great for cosplay! In fact I was thinking about cosplaying Daisy Johnson and a badge would be a great addition to any Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. cosplay. Especially because the characters don’t wear costumes, that are instantly recognizable.

Tell me in the comments which team you’d choose!

A Trip to Aachen + Simple Plan Concert

Stefanie, one of my close school friends, moved to Aachen after we finished school. I’ve been in Aachen in 2014 to visit her for the first time, last week I went there a second time. I couldn’t stay for long, because I was working on a programming project for university until last Tuesday. I had to get back on Monday, because I had an examination talk yesterday, which I aced (yay!). Therefor I only stayed for 4 days: Thursday to Sunday. The reason I wanted to visit her in the first place, was because we wanted to go to the Simple Plan concert in Antwerp (and of course to see her again). Even though we didn’t do a lot of exciting things, except for the concert, I still wanted to write about it, because my memory is terrible. Anyway here’s what we got up to:

On the first day, a Thursday, I arrived in Aachen at 8pm. We didn’t do anything special that day, just relaxed, watched TV and she had to study for an exam. On Friday we had breakfast together and then she went to university and I went for a walk. I didn’t take any pictures, because to be honest Aachen isn’t exactly a beautiful city. Anyway I kinda got lost a little bit, but I made my way back. We didn’t see each other until 2pm because she went to wedding after her exam. When she came back, we cooked lunch together and just chilled for a moment. Then we went for another walk, this time to a park which was quite nice.

Aachen City Park

But honestly I was so exhausted after that, I’ve been walking for 4 hours on that day, which is great for my health, I guess, but I’m not used to so much walking. We spent the evening at her boyfriend’s flat and played some Smash Brothers on the GameCube and watched Guardians of the Galaxy.

On Saturday we had a nice big breakfast, took a lot of time to do our makeup and then went shopping. I bought a skirt (with pockets! Can you believe that?) and a red crop top. In the afternoon we wanted to eat waffles at „Wonder Waffle“ with a friend of hers and her boyfriend, but there were already a ton of people waiting in line, so we decided to get back to her place, play some Tekken 4 and try again later. A few hours later we went to the waffle place again, without any luck, there were still too many people waiting. Then we decided to pop into the next grocery store, to get the ingredients to make waffles at home. It was so delicious!

On Sunday, the day of the concert, we treated ourself to a beauty day, we did each others makeup, which was pretty hilarious. While we did that we also watched two episodes of Digimon (I love this show so much!). Afterwards we put on some sheet masks and had lunch. We had some time on our hands until her boyfriend picked us up, so we went for a short walk. When we arrived in Antwerp we ate a hot dog, with mustard and sauerkraut, that was kinda weird and the mustard was super hot, it was almost like eating wasabi. We didn’t see The Bottom Line live, we only heard a couple of songs by the second band, Ghost Town, because we were pretty late. But I didn’t mind that too much, because I would have been too excited to even listen to them anyway.

Simple Plan was awesome live! They even played my favorite songs: The Rest of Us, This Song Saved My Life and Perfect World. Best day of my life! I filmed a bit, here are some clips:

After the concert we had a chat with on of the members of The Bottom Line, which we didn’t see live, because we were so late.

2015 Wrap Up

I’m someone who is really bad at remembering, so I thought I write down some highlights of my year, so I can come back in a few years and relive everything by reading about it. Tell me what you liked (or hated) most in 2015.

I Created This Blog
This blog was created in march and I’ve been obsessed with wordpress for a while, but then I kind of lost interest. I guess that’s because I don’t follow enough blogs to keep me interested. If you have any recommendations, leave them in the comments, I like anything fashion and fandom related or just people rambling about their life.

Leipzig Book Fair
The first time I visited the Leipzig Book Fair (Leipziger Buchmesse) was in 2011 and I loved it ever since. It’s open to the public from Thursday to Sunday on the second week of March. I only went on Sunday because Saturdays are crazy, there are just way too many people cramped into one place. I cosplayed Skye (Daisy Johnson) this year. If you want to see more pictures check out this post. Btw nobody recognized me :/

My best friend moved back to Germany
Definitely the best thing that happened this year. We were practically inseparable since kindergarden, but after we took our A-levels, she moved to Vienna to study there.
Since the end of August she’s back in Germany, even better we live in the same town! I think we met at least once a week since she’s back, it’s so great to be able to do that.

I completed my goodreads challenge
In 2014 read 33 books, I thought I wouldn’t have that much time to read in 2015, so I set the goal for 25, which I accomplished in September. I actually wanted to include my favorites here, but then this post would be endless. But I’ll share my 2015 Favorites in a few days.

I programmed an app. It’s something I had to do for my studies and my friend and I worked a long time on this. Here’s what it looks like.

This app has two features:
1. you can select the ring colors of a resistor and it calculates the value of the resistor
2. when given a cutoff frequency, it calculates the values of the resistor and capacitor of a simple low-pass or high-pass

Robot Competition
In fourth semester I took a subject called microprocessor technology, goal of this class was to built (not from scratch though) and program a robot. We had to take a test too and got divided into groups according to our grades, so that people with good and bad grades were in one team. At the end of the semester the robots had to compete against each other. Unfortunately we didn’t win, it was still a great experience!

“Christmas Valley”

Christmas markets are basically my favorite part of December. But there’s one particular christmas market that I love the most. Situated in the middle of a forest, it spreads all along a hiking trail that’s 7,8 kilometers (4,8 miles) long, along this path you’ll see seven mills that are beautifully decorated, with lots of little booths that sell crafts, hot drinks and delicious food. The name of the hiking trail is Mühltal, literally translated “Mill Valley”, that’s why the Christmas Market is called Weihnachtstal (“Christmas Valley”). Here are some pictures I took. On one you can see my friend Anni holding a bow and arrow, because we had a little tournament between her, my father, my father’s friend and me. Anni actually won.

My favorite part of that day was the christmas parade, here are some photos.
